What got you into CrossFit?
It was all word of mouth. I live nearby and kept hearing rave reviews about Alchemy from people in the neighbourhood—not just about the workouts, but the amazing community. .
What do you like about Alchemy?
The energy. The attitude. The people. There is a great blend of intensity and fun—from the coaches to the members—that makes every class something I look forward to.
What has been your proudest moment at Alchemy?
I don’t think I had ever attempted a true one-rep max before. One class, my partner and I were lifting at 80% effort, and as the session was winding down we just looked at each other and said, “F#%$ it, let’s go for it.” It wasn’t record-breaking weight, but it meant something to us.
What are your CrossFit goals for the future?
To stay strong enough to carry both of my kids at the same time—for as many years as they’ll let me.
If you could design the perfect workout, what would it include?
Keep it simle: pull-ups, push-ups, some outdoor running (and maybe add in some box jump overs).
What's the biggest change you've seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
Size and posture. The physical changes came faster than I expected.
When you're not at the gym, what's your favourite thing to do?
Being with my wife and kids. Especially travelling with them—whether it’s a big adventure or a quick weekend getaway.
What’s your favourite local Hamilton food spot?
Shakespeare’s. Good food, and run by a good family.
