Hamilton Member of the Month for February 2026 Victoria Deveau
Tell us about yourself
Hi! I’m Victoria, and I’ve been a member of Alchemy since May 2023! I work as a nurse and love staying active - partly because, as an aunt, I need to keep up with my nieces and nephew and maintain my status as the aunt who can give endless piggyback rides! I love traveling, hiking, and am fueled almost entirely by coffee.
What got you into CrossFit?
When I finished nursing school and no longer had access to the school gym, I really missed the social side of working out with friends. I loved lifting weights but struggled to stay consistent on my own. After being inspired by some friends who were into CrossFit, I decided to give it a try. After my first trial class at Alchemy, I was immediately hooked.
What do you like about Alchemy?
I love how welcoming the environment is. Regardless of your ability, there are always accessible movements you can do, and the community is so supportive. A big part of that is the exceptional coaching staff - they’re knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping you reach your goals, which is a big part of why I actually look forward to showing up.
What has been your proudest moment at Alchemy?
I’ve hit many different PRs this past year, but I’m probably most proud of my commitment to consistently show up for myself every week. When I increased my membership from 3x to 5x a week, I stopped cherry-picking workouts and just showed up, which has led to huge strength gains. More recently, getting my first wall handstand was a fun personal win - especially for a gal who used to be terrified of being upside down.
What are your CrossFit goals for the future?
I really want to improve my endurance and gymnastics skills - I’d love to be able to do a pull-up one day!
If you could design the perfect workout, what would it include?
Probably a mix of DB snatches, deadlifts, and rowing!
What's the biggest change you've seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
I’ve definitely gained a lot of strength, but the biggest change is my confidence. I know I can push myself to do hard things - in the gym and in life.
When you're not at the gym, what's your favourite thing to do?
I love anything crafty - I do a lot of crocheting and painting in my free time!
What’s your favourite local Hamilton food spot?
Cowabunga+ is my go to spot for pizza! The GG is my personal favourite.
